Welcome Message

Dear Colleagues,

On behalf of the Romanian Association of Endoscopic Surgery, I would like to thank you for your attendance to the 12th National Symposium of Bariatric & Metabolic Surgery and the 2nd National Symposium of Robotic Surgery.

These events have already become a yearly tradition in Romania and, in 2020, they were hosted in a fully virtual format, between 10-12 December.

The world is rapidly evolving, and all medical specialties are doing so. Especially considering the current global context, the need to efficiently control the pandemic obesity and to increasingly use the most technologically advanced minimally invasive approaches to improve the surgical outcome of our patients is our main task.

The theme of the events, “2020 Challenges of Robotic and Metabolic Surgery in Romania”, focused just on these current trends and how the new technologies are the key to creating a safer healthcare environment for all patients.

The participants, members of the metabolic or robotic surgery multidisciplinary teams, were part of an interactive dialogue promoting collaborative learning. The online platform that hosted the events facilitated virtual communication and networking with the other attendees, speakers and companies and gave all attendees the chance of engaging in multiple interactions through live Q&A sessions, chat, Partners Area.

The Symposia Organizing Committee wishes to thank all participants for their active role during these important scientific events, and for their contribution to developing the educational platform for both metabolic and robotic surgery in our country.

I look forward to connecting with you during our next meetings,

Cătălin Copăescu, MD, PhD
